On Children (Kahlil Gibran, 1883-1931)
"On Children" is one of the poetic essays in The Prophet, a masterpiece by the Lebanese poet-philosopher Kahlil Gibran. This poetic essay conveys his advice to all parents, on treating children with a sense of awe and wonderment, rather than with excessive authority or possessiveness. It has influenced my outlook towards children, even towards all living and nonliving beings. For an English version, see http://www.katsandogz.com/onchildren.html
